I have been teaching art for 21 years. I love that every day is different and that my students help to keep me young! I would like my students to always have art be a part of their lives and to realize that art is and has always been all around them.
HELLO EVERYONE! My name is Kelly Jackson. I replaced the beloved Stacey Van Campen at the start of the 2021-2022 school year. I have loved art since I was a little girl, and I pursued my passion at SUNY Oswego, graduating with my Bachelors in Fine Arts (BFA) in 2012. I received my concentration in Studio arts focusing on Illustration, book arts and printmaking. I have worked in various art fields trying out graphic design, newspaper advertisements, screen printing, branding and website design. I started my own Etsy shop in 2015 and painted garden marker rocks and custom portraits. I began teaching art classes in nearby Fair Haven, NY and fell in love with teaching! I received my Masters in Art Education from SUNY Oswego in the spring of 2020 and began at Charles E. Riley Elementary in the fall. Besides art teaching, I have many passions! I love to write, take photographs, do all sorts of crafts and learn about local history and agriculture. I published my first two books last summer about the beauty of life in the countryside featuring my poetry and photographs of our gorgeous upstate NY! In the summertime you can find me on Saturday mornings at the CNY Farmers market selling fruit for one of our local farms, camping in the woods or enjoying the rocky shores of Lake Ontario. My husband, dog, cat and I live in an 1870's farmhouse in the woods of North Wolcott, NY on a dead end road that leads to the lake, surrounded by gardens and farmland. I am so glad to be teaching art here at Oswego City School District! ~Mrs. Jackson
I’ve been teaching at Oswego Middle School for 15 years. I love teaching art because it gives students a broader perspective in which they can view the world. I want students to leave my classroom with the confidence to tackle any problem given to them.
